Introducing Fitzroy Ubud
Discover Fitzroy Ubud, where private infinity pool villas overlook an unobstructed tropical rainforest landscape in Ubud, Bali.

Within the Rainforest
Surrounded by tropical rainforest, Fitzroy Ubud is a collection of private infinity pool villas immersed in one of Ubud’s most defining landscapes. Here, the view does not stretch towards a distant horizon. It surrounds you.
Dense vegetation fills the valley, tropical weather moves through the forest, and the sounds of the jungle become part of everyday life. Morning light filters through the canopy, clouds gather above the trees, and after rain the leaves deepen in colour. The landscape is constantly changing, yet never demands your attention.
Fitzroy Ubud was created for a different way of experiencing Ubud — closer to the forest, quieter in character and shaped by the landscape immediately outside the villa.
Ubud is often associated with rice fields, temples and artistic heritage, but the rainforest is equally important to the landscape of Bali’s interior. Deep valleys cut through the terrain, filled with tropical vegetation, rivers and waterfalls. Roads descend between villages before rising again through forests and agricultural land.
Fitzroy Ubud sits within this environment, at the end of the valley with an unobstructed outlook across the surrounding jungle. For a wider introduction to the destination, A Guide to Ubud, Bali explores the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, art and landscapes that make Ubud one of Bali’s most distinctive regions.
Living With the Forest
The view here is deliberately simple: forest.
There is no city skyline beyond it and no ocean on the horizon. Instead, layers of tropical vegetation extend across the valley, changing subtly with the weather and time of day. Morning light moves through the trees, clouds gather above the canopy and mist can appear between different layers of the forest. It rarely looks exactly the same twice.
Each villa has its own private infinity pool overlooking the jungle, creating a natural connection between the living space and the landscape beyond. An early swim can become a slow breakfast. An afternoon can be spent beside the water, watching the canopy move in the breeze. After exploring Ubud, the villa becomes somewhere to return to without needing to continue the day.
Staying beside tropical forest also means experiencing a living environment. Birdsong changes through the day, insects become part of the evening soundscape, and frogs may become more noticeable after tropical rain. Wind moves through the canopy, while water continues falling from leaves long after a shower has passed.
These are not background effects created for a resort. They are part of the rainforest itself.
Our Journal story Living Alongside the Jungle explores the changing sounds, weather and rhythms of staying within this environment.
Rain, when it arrives, simply changes the atmosphere. Leaves become darker and more vivid, the temperature cools, and mist can begin gathering across the valley. Sometimes a tropical shower passes quickly. At other times, it gives the day a reason to slow down — to stay inside, read, watch the rain from the villa and wait for the forest to change again.
Morning offers another perspective. The air is cooler, and the forest gradually becomes brighter as daylight moves across the valley. Some mornings arrive beneath clear skies, others beneath low cloud or mist. Breakfast can come before a day exploring Ubud, or the morning can remain completely unplanned.
The jungle gives you permission not to rush.
Beyond the Jungle
The same tropical environment surrounding Ubud Jungle continues throughout the countryside. Waterfalls appear among ravines, rivers and dense vegetation, with Tegenungan among the region’s best known and Tibumana, Kanto Lampo and Goa Rang Geng offering different settings. An early start can make a waterfall morning especially rewarding before returning to the quieter surroundings of the resort later in the day. Our A Waterfall Morning Journal offers a closer introduction to exploring waterfalls around Ubud.
But the jungle is only one part of Ubud’s identity. The region has long been associated with Balinese painting, carving, silverwork, textiles and other creative traditions. Villages surrounding Ubud developed distinct artistic identities over generations, while museums and galleries continue to present different periods of Balinese art. Our The Craft of Ubudexplores this creative landscape in more detail.
Temples, ceremonies and village life add another layer. Staying in the rainforest does not mean withdrawing from Ubud. It simply gives you a quieter place to return to afterwards.
A morning exploring temples can end beside the private pool. A waterfall trip can become an unhurried afternoon. A day spent discovering the surrounding villages can finish with dinner while the forest settles around you.
There is plenty to do in Ubud.
There is also something to be said for doing less.
A Slower Side of Ubud
Perhaps the greatest difference is not what you can see from Fitzroy Ubud, but what the setting encourages you to do.
The forest does not ask to be explored every moment. Sometimes the experience is simply staying close to it — swimming, reading, having a long lunch, listening to the rain or watching the light move through the trees.
The experience is less about escaping into the jungle than learning to spend time alongside it.
That feeling becomes part of the stay. The forest continues beyond the boundaries of the villa, alive with movement and sound, while the day itself can remain remarkably still.
Experience Fitzroy Ubud
Fitzroy Ubud was created around the feeling of being surrounded — by trees, by changing light and weather, and by the sounds of a tropical landscape that continues whether you are watching it or not.
Private infinity pools bring the rainforest to the edge of each villa, while the surrounding landscape remains the defining presence beyond. Ubud is close enough to explore, yet the forest creates a natural distance from the pace of the town.
It is a different way of experiencing the island.
Within the rainforest. Surrounded by stillness.
This is Fitzroy Ubud.
